Prepared to care for you.
Ensuring the highest standards of safety, privacy, and regulatory excellence in compliance with Illinois state and federal law.
Karegate operates in compliance with regulations overseen by the Illinois Department of Health and Human Services (Illinois HHS). As a licensed home care provider in the state of Illinois, we adhere to all applicable state rules governing non-medical home care services.
We maintain rigorous quality assurance processes, including regular internal audits, client satisfaction surveys, and continuous staff training to uphold and exceed the standards required by our state licensing.
We comply with all applicable federal and Illinois state regulations governing non-medical home care agencies, including the Illinois Administrative Code requirements for home care aide services. Our policies and procedures are designed to meet or exceed these regulatory standards.
Our compliance framework covers person-centred care, client rights and dignity, informed consent, abuse prevention and reporting, complaint handling, proper documentation, staff qualifications, and emergency preparedness.
The safety of our clients is our absolute priority. We comply with Illinois's Dependent Adult Abuse laws (Illinois Code Chapter 235B) and maintain a zero-tolerance approach to abuse and neglect. All employees are designated as mandatory reporters under Illinois law.
All staff are trained to recognise signs of abuse—including physical, emotional, financial, and neglect—and understand how to report concerns through established channels, including the Illinois Department of Human Services abuse hotline.
If you suspect abuse or neglect of a dependent adult, contact the Illinois Adult Protective Services hotline immediately or call 911 in an emergency.
All caregivers undergo comprehensive criminal background checks through the Illinois Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and are verified against the Illinois Abuse Registry and Sex Offender Registry before their first assignment. We also verify professional references and conduct skills assessments.
Karegate is fully compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). We protect the privacy and security of all client health information through administrative, physical, and technical safeguards.
Our privacy practices ensure that Protected Health Information (PHI) is only used and disclosed as permitted by law. All staff complete annual HIPAA training and sign confidentiality agreements.
Clients have the right to access their records, request amendments, and receive an accounting of disclosures of their health information.
As a provider serving both private-pay and Medicaid clients, we comply with all Illinois Medicaid program requirements and federal Medicaid regulations. This includes proper documentation, service authorisation procedures, accurate billing practices, and adherence to the Illinois Medicaid Member Services guidelines.
We maintain full transparency in our billing and are committed to preventing fraud, waste, and abuse in all Medicaid-funded services.
We value all feedback as it helps us improve. We have a robust complaints procedure in place that ensures all concerns are listened to, investigated thoroughly, and resolved in a timely and professional manner.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of a complaint, you have the right to file a complaint with the Illinois Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing or contact the Illinois Long-Term Care Ombudsman.
